Location
The Metacomet Trail is situated at the summit of a steep hillside, accessible from Newgate Road, just north of the Route 20 intersection in East Granby. Adjacent to the trail on the west side is Fieldstone Farms, a TRLC property spanning 16 acres, while the east side is bordered by a chain-link fence.

Features
Old Newgate Ridge features a 3/4-mile segment of the 63-mile Metacomet Trail. Collectively, 40 acres of open space including Old Newgate Ridge, Fieldstone Farms and Newgate Rear, support a variety of wildlife and vegetation. Dense shade can be found under old climax forest hemlocks. The property is home to wildlife such as deer, bear, hawks, owls, and numerous small mammals and songbirds. Stunning views are available from the outlook at the top of Peak Mountain.
